Information for residents of buildings owned by The Apartment Shop

Stevens Square Community Organization was made aware on November 1 that the City of Minneapolis has begun the process of revoking the rental license of landlord Stephen Frenz. This is being done as a result of violations of the City’s rental license requirements. Mr. Frenz has 10 days to correct the defects or appeal this decision. We believe Mr. Frenz will appeal very quickly.

All residents of properties owned and operated by The Apartment Shop/JAS Apartments/Stephen Frenz will receive a letter from the City of Minneapolis explaining the process. The letter being sent out is informational only and does not reflect any residents need to move.

This is a very complicated process which can take over a year to complete – and the outcome is not determined just by City action. Mr. Frenz has many legal means to challenge this action. Read more »
